We caught up with Helen at Carr Hall Castle recently to ask her all about being The Wedding Concierge and what it is she loves about weddings.

How did you start out?
The Wedding Concierge began over a bottle of wine and a conversation about work, life and love with a very dear friend. When our conversation turned to her wedding, she explained that she wished she'd had someone like me
to help her plan it. I have always had a passion for planning and meticulous attention to detail, and an overwhelming desire to deliver the best customer service imaginable and this inspiring conversation sparked a chain of events which soon led to me leaving behind an extremely successful career to focus on doing something I love. Having spent the best part of ten years heading up the Internal Communications department on behalf of a FTSE 250 Financial Services company, I'd organised some extremely successful and memorable events and there were times when I believed I had the best job in the world, but I was ready for a new challenge.
What's the best thing about doing the job you do?
Seeing the joy on peoples faces when it all comes together. That's why I do it.
What makes your business unique?
Far from the stereotypical view of what a 'Wedding Planner' does, I wouldn't dream of swooping in and taking over. Nor would I ever force my ideas upon you. It's YOUR wedding. It's the best day of your lives, and the matter of greatest importance to me is that you experience precisely the feelings you want to have. Whether you are thinking of a small, intimate gathering or an elaborate weekend long event, my aim is to get to know you and help you to have precisely the wedding you want. Throughout the planning process, I am on hand to offer as much or as little help as you need. From an hour's advice to complete co-ordination of your entire wedding, I can be your personal ‘Wedding Concierge’ who does all the research, calling, ordering, negotiating and looking after details that you may not have time to deal with. Whilst working with you to source the perfect venue and the very best suppliers, I will also guide and advise you on etiquette and protocol, and prevent you from making any embarrassing or costly mistakes. And on the day, I take care of all the little details that make a such a BIG difference.
What do you think the future of the wedding industry holds for your business?
Today's bride is determined to create a wedding day that is as individual as she is. Informative and inspirational bridal blogs like this now compete with glossy magazines to present inspiring images and ideas and as an increasing number of couples are empowered to create a day that is different, perhaps it is not surprising that so many are turning to people like me for advice, support and encouragement along the way. Considering all of the factors which need to be taken into account, from finding the perfect venue to identifying the best suppliers and liaising with them throughout the planning process, to bringing it all together and managing everything (and everyone) on the day, arranging the perfect day can otherwise be unnecessarily time consuming and stressful.
What do you enjoy doing when you're not doing weddings?
Although a great deal of my time is spent in the office dealing with the practical side of wedding planning, I've built some amazing relationships with venues and suppliers and in the interests of nurturing these and developing new ones, you might spot me zipping up and down the M1 in my Fiat 500. I enjoy researching new and inspiring ideas and am constantly on the look-out for interesting places, people and products. Even when I'm not working, I rarely ever sit still... unless you factor in the time I spend clip clopping around on my lovely horse. Besides my Fiance Craig, he's the love of my life!
What do you predict the next wedding trend will be?
Trends are constantly evolving and because I encourage every couple I assist to be utterly true to themselves and feel completely empowered to create a day that truly reflects them, I don't overly concern myself with the latest trends.
If you were getting married what would be the one service that you provide that you would choose?
It would definitely be final stage and on the day co-ordination. No doubt about it. I would want to relax in the knowledge that someone who has taken time to understand exactly what I want, who is working for me and has my best interests at heart, is dealing with the venue and all the suppliers involved, making sure they all know what to do and when and is competently looking after everything, leaving me free to enjoy every single moment.
Helen organised weddings all over the Uk and works alongside Papakata, The Bivuoac, Carr Hall Castle, The Northern Belle and many many more.
Give her a call or drop her an email. Besides continuously going the extra mile to save you heaps of time, stress and money... she’ll make you smile.
